What a whirlwind the past several days have been.
After forfeiting our original tickets to Spain because our visas had not arrived, we finally received those precious parcels last Thursday – exactly 4 weeks and 1 day after we submitted our applications.
Our euphoria segued into get-it-done overdrive, and we frantically finished moving our household to storage. We could not have done this without the help of J & J – you know who you are. We are eternally grateful.
It was stressful, to be sure, and this Dreamer had to do more Doing than she is comfortable doing in such a short period of time. In addition to readying our belongings for storage, I struggled with packing my luggage for a year abroad. My initial clothing selection neared the airline weight limit – and that was before I had added other essentials.
Meanwhile, my Doer worked around the clock like a madman, punishing both body and mind. His Tetris-playing days definitely came in handy when it was time to put our final U-Haul load into storage. I was ready to throw money at the problem and buy a third unit, but Doer rearranged various boxes and objects in our two units, and not only did he fit in our final haul, but he also left room for our king mattress, which will make its way to storage long after we are sipping sangria on the beach.
These past five days have been physically and emotionally exhausting. On one of our packing days – I forget which one – I was nearly at the breaking point when my Pandora station played Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.”
Don’t worry about a thing
Cause every little thing gonna be alright
I have recently come to appreciate the song, as it is one of the first I’ve learned to play on my ukulele. The second time the song played on Pandora, I thought it was coincidence.
Don’t worry about a thing
Cause every little thing gonna be alright
The third time, I did a double take.
Don’t worry about a thing
Cause every little thing gonna be alright
The fourth – yes fourth – time the song played within a span of a couple hours, I concluded it must be a sign that I was worrying too much.
Don’t worry about a thing
Cause every little thing gonna be alright
Thank you, Bob. We board our flight soon, and tomorrow morning we will deplane in Madrid.
Love reading about your adventures!!!
